The growing of olive tree in Syria is a pretty old activity where it has always been connected with the life of the Syrian People; nowadays, there are quite as surplus of olive and olive-oil in the Syrian market at farmers and producers installations, that need export.
In the year 1998 the total number of olive trees in the country was 62 million in 2002 this number became 75 million.
Olive Oil production reached in 2002, the quantity of 180,000 tons.
Syria ranks sixth on the universal level in producing olive-oil, and the second on the Arab level
